National Mirror Server
ftp.heanet.ie is the HEAnet National Mirror Server, providing 24 hour access to mirrored content to the HEAnet community and beyond. We mirror a wide range of open-source software, libraries, technical documentation and internet standards. If there is anything you would like us to mirror, including software developed within the HEAnet community, please mail mirrors@heanet.ie with your request.
Specifications
ftp.heanet.ie is currently running on a Dell Poweredge 2650 and a Poweredge 7250. coroebus.heanet.ie acting as a web/ftp/rsync server, and canyonero.heanet.ie acting as an rsync and content mirroring client.
- coroebus.heanet.ie:
- Coroebus.heanet.ie is a dual 1.5Ghz Itanium, with 32Gb of RAM. It has dual 36gb 10,000 RPM scsi mirrored system disks, and a 4x 36Gb 15,000 RPM scsi RAID-O to cache the most often requested content (although these are unused at the moment). Coroebus currently has a quad Gigabit ethernet uplink.
- canyonero.heanet.ie:
- Canyonero.heanet.ie is a 2Ghz Xeon, with 4Gb of RAM. It has dual 18Gb 10,000 RPM scsi disks. Canyonero currently has a a bonded Gigabit ethernet uplink.
- Storage:
- Over 16 terabytes of storage is provided by 4 SATA-RAID devices connected directly to coroebus.
- Network:
- ftp.heanet.ie is connected via a pair of channelised dual-gigabit ethernet links to a pair of switches that have multiple gigabits of capacity available to the HEAnet National backbone (see www.hea.net) and beyond. ftp.heanet.ie supports jumboframes with packet sizes up to 9000 bytes working. It is located in our Blanchardstown point of presence.
Access
We currently offer a range of methods to access ftp.heanet.ie. At present we support http, ftp and rsync. All 3 methods are available in IPv4 and IPv6. ftp.heanet.ie should resolve to the correct IP version for you, but you can force selection by using ftp.ipv4.heanet.ie or ftp.ipv6.heanet.ie.
